Thundermist CEO Appointed

October 25, 2011--Charles T. Jones has been appointed as the permanent President/Chief Executive Officer of Thundermist Health Center, Polly Eddy, Chairwoman of the Thundermist Board of Directors announced today.

“After a nationwide search for a Chief Executive Officer to lead Thundermist, we are thrilled that Chuck was the unanimous choice of the Board of Directors,” Ms. Eddy stated. “He is only the fourth CEO in Thundermist’s 42 year history.”

"I am honored by the appointment and look forward to take on the exciting challenges and opportunities faced by our organization,” Mr. Jones said.   “Thundermist is uniquely positioned to deliver the healthcare quality, efficiency and access that will be crucial to our patients and reform of the healthcare system in the near future.”

Mr. Jones began with Thundermist in the role of Chief Information Officer in March, 2008 and assumed responsibilities of Executive Director of Thundermist Woonsocket in November, 2008.  He was appointed by the Thundermist Board of Directors to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer in June 2011.  Prior to joining Thundermist, Mr. Jones spent 14 years in Information Technology and operational leadership positions in a variety of industries.

His previous positions include leadership roles in sales, software development and account management for E5 Systems and Perot Systems Corporation.  He concentrated on technology services, primarily within the healthcare industry, serving clients such as Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, Mr. Jones earned a BS degree in Mathematics in 1994. Following his graduation he served 5 years as a Surface Warfare Officer with tours on the USS Tarawa (LHA-1) and USS Osprey (MHC-51). Mr. Jones also earned an MBA from Bentley College in Waltham, MA in 2008.

In February 2011, Mr. Jones was appointed to the RI Healthcare Reform Commission by Governor Lincoln Chafee.  The Commission is charged with ensuring Rhode Islanders have access to high quality, affordable health care while federal reform of the healthcare system is underway.  Additional affiliations include serving on the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Health Plan of RI and the RI Health Center Association.  He is also a member of Rhode Island Quality Institute’s currentcare advisory committee.
