Rapid COVID-19 Testing Now Available in Woonsocket

(Woonsocket – February 9, 2021) – Thundermist Health Center is offering rapid COVID-19 testing seven days per week in Woonsocket. The testing site is operated by Thundermist and funded by the Rhode Island Department of Health. The site aims to address the disparities in testing and COVID-19 cases experienced in Woonsocket and documented by the Woonsocket Health Equity Zone.

Testing is free and by appointment only. Patients can make an appointment at portal.ri.gov or by calling (401) 222-8022. The rapid testing site is open to anyone over the age of two who wants a COVID-19 test. You do not need to be a patient of Thundermist Health Center. Patients can drive or walk up.

Rapid testing is a fast and easy way to get COVID-19 test results. Results are available in about 15 minutes.

“Thundermist is proud to serve the community of Woonsocket,” said Sapna Chowdhry, MD, medical director of Thundermist Health Center of Woonsocket and infectious disease specialist. “We will provide up to 1,000 tests per week at this new site. We have significantly increased access to testing in Northern Rhode Island.”

“We are so thankful to see an efficient rapid testing site in the heart of Woonsocket.” Said Tamara Burman, Health Equity Zone of Woonsocket. “We are hopeful this accessible location aids in helping many more individuals in our community.”

Multilingual staff work at the testing site. We do not ask questions about immigration status. There is no government presence.
