Thundermist Health Center Hosts First Annual Bake Off

Thundermist Health Center of Woonsocket’s Women, Infants & Children (WIC) department hosted the First Annual Bake Off at 450 Clinton Street, on Thursday March 28.

Three of the WIC nutrition staff members created healthy and delicious desserts made with only WIC bought ingredients. About 50 votes were cast by patients and community members. Dennis Horta, WIC manager at Thundermist was the winner of the bake-off event with his now famous Black Bean and Avocado Brownies. Other desserts included Chocolate Zucchini Muffins and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cupcakes.

WIC provides nutrition counseling, referrals, food prescriptions, and breastfeeding support.
