Partnership between Thundermist Health Center and Delta Dental Provides Free Dental Care to Rhode Island Veterans

(Woonsocket – October 6, 2021) – When veterans experience homelessness and need dental care, they turn to Thundermist and Operation Stand Down. During the past thirteen years, Thundermist provided free care to more than 1,000 Rhode Island veterans.

“Delta Dental is honored to support Thundermist Health Center and Operation Stand Down to provide critical dental care to vulnerable populations like our state’s homeless veterants.” Said Joseph Perroni, President and CEO of Delta Dental of Rhode Island.

With the support of Delta Dental, Thundermist served 67 veterans at Operation Stand Down. The Thundermist team treats veterans’ immediate dental needs and connects them to ongoing care.

“We are grateful to be able to provide our veterans with free dental care.” Said Jeanne LaChance, President and CEO of Thundermist Health Center. “The work we do at Operation Stand Down is directly in line with our mission to improve the health of our patients and community by removing barriers to that care.”

Operation Stand Down is an annual three-day program to assist area veterans experiencing homelessness to secure social, medical, legal, and housing assistance. The dental exams and cleanings performed can make a difference when someone is experiencing homelessness and looking for work.
