Thundermist Health Center Purchases 25 John A. Cummings Way

Thundermist Health Center purchased 25 John A. Cummings Way in Woonsocket, RI creating a health center campus in downtown Woonsocket. The building houses Thundermist’s Woonsocket dental office and administrative services. Other tenants include Bank of America, Ocean State Urgent Care, and Abacus Health Products.
“Thundermist Health Center has cared for the patients of Woonsocket for 50 years,” said Jeanne LaChance, president/CEO. “This latest purchase is another example of our commitment to the residents of Woonsocket.”
Thundermist Health Center will now have two buildings at the corners of Clinton Street and John Cummings Way in downtown Woonsocket. This health center campus provides patients of all ages with the services they need including medical care, behavioral health care, dental care, WIC, walk-in care, and pharmacy and laboratory services.
Thundermist Health Center is one of the largest employers in Woonsocket with 284 employees working in the city. More than 30 percent of these employees reside in Woonsocket. The number of Thundermist employees working in Woonsocket has grown by more than 50 percent in the last five years. Earlier this year, Thundermist implemented a minimum starting wage of $15 per hour.

In 2018, Thundermist Health Center paid more than $150,000 to the City of Woonsocket for property taxes on 450 Clinton Street. The health center expects to pay approximately $130,000 each year for 25 John A. Cummings Way. Although a non-profit organization, Thundermist Health Center continues to pay taxes on property owned in Woonsocket.
Thundermist Health Center is a full-service primary care provider with dental and behavioral health services. The non-profit community health center aims to improve the health of patients and communities by delivering exceptional health care, removing barriers to that care, and advancing healthy lifestyles. Thundermist has locations in West Warwick, Woonsocket, and South County. The organization cares for patients regardless of insurance and ability to pay. In 2018, Thundermist cared for more than 48,000 patients.
