Faculty

Dr. Johnson is a family medicine physician with a fellowship in surgical obstetrics, who has practiced at Thundermist Health Center since 2017. During that time, she has served as Family Medicine Obstetric Fellowship faculty and co-director and previously served as Associate Medical Director. She chose family medicine because of the power that whole person care and lasting relationships with patients and families have to impact health, and chose Thundermist because of its mission of exceptional quality of care, community advocacy, and patient-centered approach. She is thrilled to bring family medicine resident training into the communities where it will be practiced, with the combination of Thundermist’s over 55 years of community presence, and the academic affiliation with Tufts.

She completed her MD/MPH dual degree at the University of Connecticut, followed by a family medicine residency and chief residency at Oregon Health & Science University, and surgical maternal child health fellowship at West Suburban Medical Center. Recognized for her leadership and commitment to community health, Jessica has contributed to several research projects and quality improvement initiatives and has received awards including the AAFP Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education and the Pisacano Leadership Foundation Scholarship. She has faculty appointments at Tufts School of Medicine and the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. Her clinical interests include obstetric and gynecologic care, including labor and delivery, lactation, and supporting patient-centered healthy lifestyle change.

Outside of medicine, Jessica enjoys hiking, New York Times word games, baking, and spending time with her family and rescue pup.

Nithin is a dedicated family and preventive medicine physician with experience in both clinical care and public health advocacy. At Thundermist Health Center, he provides comprehensive care for diverse populations, including unhoused individuals and those in need of substance use treatment. He is interested in bridging primary care practice with community organizing in order to begin addressing the root causes of the health challenges patients and communities face. Nithin has extensive experience in health policy, having served as a health policy fellow and consultant for organizations such as ABC News and the Baltimore City Health Department. His academic journey includes a master of public health from Johns Hopkins University and a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He is a recognized leader in community health initiatives, earning awards such as the Champion of Change Award for his advocacy work in Rhode Island.

Aaron is a pediatrician at Thundermist Health Center in Woonsocket, RI. He has a strong background in pediatric care, education, and community health. A Boston University summa cum laude graduate in behavioral biology, Aaron earned his medical degree from Tulane University, where he received multiple honors, including the John E. Lewy Pro Parvulis Award in Pediatric Advocacy. He completed his residency at Brown University/Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he was recognized as a positive champion of the learning environment and contributed to multiple community health initiatives, including co-founding the Hasbro Children’s Hospital Feeding Futures program. Currently, Aaron serves as a Pediatric Curriculum Director for the Thundermist Family Medicine Residency and clinical assistant professor at both the Tufts University School of Medicine and Brown University Alpert Medical School.

Tara Dubois is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at Thundermist Health Center in Woonsocket. She has extensive clinical experience across emergency department settings, inpatient psychiatry, and integrated behavioral health, where she has worked with diverse patient populations experiencing complex mental health and substance use concerns.

She earned her undergraduate degree from New York University and her Advanced Standing Master of Social Work degree from Boston University. Her clinical practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches that emphasize whole-person care, collaboration, and the integration of behavioral health within primary care settings. Tara’s professional interests include trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, mindfulness-based interventions, and the application of evidence-based therapies to promote resilience and recovery.

Lisa is a healthcare leader with more than 15 years of experience in behavioral health and healthcare operations. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Plymouth State University and has a diverse background spanning case management, program coordination, and practice management. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Lisa is committed to the mission of the Family Medicine Residency Program.  She is passionate about collaborative leadership, continuous improvement, and creating positive, patient-centered healthcare environments.
