Thundermist Health Center celebrates Children’s Dental Health Month
Warwick – February 27, 2019
Thundermist Health Center is hosting a month-long celebration in recognition of Children’s Dental Health Month. Activities include a children’s coloring contest, educational videos and resources, and classroom education.
Children are invited to participate in a coloring contest. The coloring page is available on social media and can be dropped off at any Thundermist dental location. Thundermist will announce winners on March 4.
Dental staff are also visiting schools and youth programs to educate children on good oral health habits. Thundermist staff and representatives of the Rhode Island Department of Health visited Citizens Elementary School in Woonsocket. Staff also visited HeadStart in South County to educate children and parents on the importance of oral health.
“Children should get their first dental check-up by age one,” said Eric Prosseda, DMD, dental director. “Baby teeth are important for the overall health and development of children. They help with nutrition, speaking, and socializing. Baby teeth also play a role in the healthy development of a child’s adult teeth.”
Thundermist Health Center has three dental locations throughout Rhode Island accepting new pediatric patients. Thundermist accepts most insurances and offers sliding fee discounts for the uninsured.
Thundermist Health Center is a full-service primary care provider with dental and behavioral health services. The non-profit community health center aims to improve the health of patients and communities by delivering exceptional health care, removing barriers to that care, and advancing healthy lifestyles. Thundermist has locations in West Warwick, Woonsocket, and South County. The organization cares for patients regardless of insurance and ability to pay. In 2018, Thundermist cared for more than 48,000 patients.
