Valentine’s farmers market gives access to fresh foods in winter

Love Your Heart, a Valentine’s Day themed Farmer’s Market will give the community access to fresh fruits and vegetables during winter. The market is hosted by Thundermist Health Center and The Health Equity Zone of Woonsocket. The event will be held at Thundermist Health Center of Woonsocket at 450 Clinton Street on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The farmers market includes fresh vegetables and fruits and children’s valentine activities. The event will feature a heart-healthy cooking demonstration from URI SNAP Education. Local farms and businesses will be in attendance including: Concetta’s Bean to Bar, Harvest Kitchen Pickles, Rhed’s Hot Sauce, Sanctuary Herbs, Schartners Farm, and Zeigler Farms.
“Our February market is a Valentine to our health,” said Tara Cimini, Thundermist Food Access Team. “The farmers markets are structured around the support of local farms and businesses. We are happy to welcome Zeigler’s Farm & Concetta’s Bean to Bar chocolates to the Market.”
Thundermist Grows! Community Garden Calendars are available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the community garden at Thundermist Health Center of West Warwick. Customers using SNAP/EBT can double their money for fresh, local fruits, vegetables, and herbs, courtesy of Farm Fresh RI.
